With her first collection, at the age of 19, maiko concentrated on Asian aesthetics combined with western materials. A collection inspired by cultural influences from throughout Asia. maiko created clothes without buttons, zippers or any modern fasteners. Every design has wrappings or knots, which are devoted to traditional Asian costumes.
